Leroy "Lee" E. Baumeister

Leroy "Lee" E. Baumeister
November 4, 1937 - May 4, 2016

This is my goodbye to my husband, and best friend. Here is what Lee would tell you,
"Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard His call.
I turned my back and left it all.
If my parting has left a void
Then fill it with remembered joy,
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Yes, these things I too will miss."

I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. 2nd Timothy 4:7

Lee was born on November 4, 1937 in Canton, OH to the late Paul and Janet (Parker) Baumeister.

He lived most of his life in the Bay View/Sandusky area and graduated from Margaretta High School in the class of 1955. He loved family and he would tell everyone that his grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the smartest, most talented and most beautiful in the world.

Lee was a journeyman sheet metal worker and a member of the Local 107 Sheet Metal Union, a licensed nursing home administrator, owner of nursing homes in Sandusky as well as a consulting firm for the elderly. He was past commodore of the Sandusky Yacht Club. Lee was a member of Waterville Community Church and had been a member of Fellowship Church in Englewood, FL.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Janet Baumeister; his first wife, Rita (Walker) Baumeister; daughter, Debra Manuella; son-in-law, Jeff Manuella and son, Michael Hand.

Now, read on, at his directions, the following is a list of what he was most proud, his surviving family: his partner of 19 years, his wife, Edna (Hand) Baumeister; children, Melinda (Bruce) Langston of Maysville, GA, Jennifer (Dan) Beatty of Roswell, GA, Stephanie Cheek of Sandusky, Randal A. Hand of Sandusky and Chris J. (Karen) and Marcus D. (Cheryl) Hand both of Toledo; grandchildren, Jonathan Manuella, Scott (Lauren) Manuella, Callie Langston, Zachary Beatty, Alex Beatty, Marina Cheek, Falon (Chad) Hill, Jenny (Luke) Shindler, Julie (Tony) Roth, Ashley (Josh) Wagner, Claudia (Bret) Hagy, Rachel (Kevin) Garwick, Christopher Hand, Katie Hand, Jessica Hand, Christina (Zach) Newman, Jessica (Dan) Russell, Stephanie Condon, Melissa Condon, Michael Rock, Olivia Warren,; great-grandchildren, Andy Hand, Brendan Hand, Aubree Shindler, Leah Shindler, Wyatt Hill, Anika Hill, Geanna Hill, Forrest Newman, Alexia Hagy, Sophia Cullen, Lily Garwick, Abigail Garwick and Vivian Warren; sisters, Joanie Smith of Bucyrus and Paula (Larry) Walls of Bayview and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

He will be sorely missed by all of us but he had a full and happy life and he had great faith and belief that his Heavenly Father would help us go forward in this painful time.

Friends may call on Monday, May 9, 2016 from 5:00 - 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, May 10 at 10:30 am with Pastor Mike O'Shea of Waterville Community Church presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Those wishing to contribute to Lee's memory may do so to one's favorite charity.
