Mary Ellen (Kaiser) Everett La Course, 93, residing in Sandusky, formerly of 516 Warren St., passed away Thursday morning, May 12, 2016 at Lutheran Memorial Home after 4 years of residency.
Mary Ellen was born on May 28, 1922 in Sandusky, OH to the late John A. and Ida K. (Nesselhauf) Kaiser.
She was a life long Sandusky resident and a 1940 graduate from St. Mary's High School. Mary was employed by Ohio Bell Telephone Company and Periodical Publishing Company. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Altar Rosary Society, the Daughters of Isabella, a former choir member, a member of the Sandusky Yacht Club and the Women's Civic Club. In her spare time, Mary Ellen loved to dance, fish, swim and go boating, She also enjoyed crocheting, painting ceramics, trap shooting, crossword puzzles, sewing, and never missed an episode of Wheel of Fortune or Jeopardy. Mary enjoyed spending time with her friends and family.
Mary Ellen is survived by her 3 children, son, James J. Everett of Castalia, daughter, Kathleen M. (Everett) Steinmetz and son, Paul L. Everett both of Sandusky; grandchildren, Demetrius P. Steinmetz of Lakewood, Tina M. Steinmetz, James R. Everett, Kristen Everett and Chad Everett all of Sandusky, Melessia (Heiss) Ruppert of Massillon; 7 great-grandchildren, Alexandrea R. (Hamm) White, Christopher C. Hamm both of Sandusky, Sara Heiss, Fay Ruphert and Eion Ruphert all of Massillon, Levi and Lamar Everett both of Sandusky; brother, Paul A. Kaiser of Maumee; daughter-in-law, Barbra Everett of Huron and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Mary Ellen is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert J. Everett, former owner and operator of Everett's Gun Shop, whom she was married to for 34 years and had 4 children. Also preceded in death by her second husband of 12 years, Larry L. La Course, owner and operator of Larry's Rod & Reel Repair Shop; precious son, Dean A. Everett, brothers, 3 brothers, William J. Kaiser and twin brothers, George C. Kaiser and John Kaiser Jr., and sister, Loretta (Kaiser) Biecheler.
Friends may call on Monday, May 16, 2016 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A prayer service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday morning, May 17, 2016 at 9:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Sandusky. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Sandusky.
