Evelyn Jean (Willis) Reilly, 97, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her children on Saturday, May 28, 2016.
She was born February 25, 1919 to Florence and Leon Willis in Bronson Township. She married Robert Reilly on May 9, 1942, and together they raised seven children on the family farm.
Evelyn was a 1936 graduate of Norwalk High School and received her Bachelor's degree from Bowling Green State University. She taught elementary grades at North Fairfield, Richmond and Fitchville Schools, followed in later years by League, Pleasant and Bronson Schools. She was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, the Ladies of St. Alphonsus, North Fairfield Grange, Willowdale Farm Women's Club, the Chit-Chat Club and the Retired Teachers Association. She loved reading, which she passed on to her children and her students. Animals and working with her flowers also gave her great joy.
She is survived by her son Larry Reilly (Susan) of Norwalk, and her daughters, Carol Bauman (Dick), Holland, Ohio, Nancy Reilly (Tom Smith) and Pat Reilly of Norwalk, Sharon Uther, Milan, Ohio and Janet Spraker (Ray) of Spring City, Tennessee. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1985, her eldest daughter Kathleen Robinson in 1992, two children in infancy, Phyllis and David; her brother Horace Willis in 1952 and her sister Donna Lou Adelman in 2009.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, May 31, 2016, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Saint Alphonsus Church, in Peru, Ohio.
