Nyle W. "Red" Olds, Sr., 77, of Sandusky, passed away late Saturday, June 4, 2016 in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
He was born on December 10, 1938 in Grand Rapids, Mich. to the late Roger and Luella (Brandon) Olds.
Red was a wonderful man who cherished his family. He loved watching the Cleveland Indians, tinkering with his golf carts, going to his cabin in Michigan, and his longtime companion, Jake. He was a hard worker his entire life as an auto mechanic, owning several of his own businesses. He was also a truck driver and press operator, most recently working at DCI in Sandusky.
Red had a great sense of humor, loved to have a good time, and was a great "selfie" taker - before selfies were popular!
Red is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Elizabeth "Betsy" (Yost) Olds; sons, Nyle (wife, Tami) Olds, Jr., Roger (wife, Bobbie) Olds, and Dean (wife, Maureen) Olds; daughters, Louanne Elliott and Linda (husband, Tim) Miller; grandchildren, Adam Olds, Dr. Elizabeth Olds, Nyle A. Olds, Rachael Olds, Jeremy Elliott, Spencer Olds, Amanda Younger, Amber Younger, and Anja Younger; great-grandchild, Wesley Olds; sisters, Jarnice Tuttle and Jacki (husband, Tom) Stephens; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and his devoted dog, Jake.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ronald Olds, sister, Judith Dennis, and other loving relatives.
At Red's request, cremation will take place. Private family services will be held at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 18 from 12-4 P.M. at the Toft Event Room, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky (parking and entrance in the back).
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Red's name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to one's favorite charity.
