Patricia Helen (O'Connell) Missig, 93, residing in Ashville, North Carolina, and formerly of Sandusky, OH, passed away late Thursday evening, June 16, 2016 at Givens Estates in North Carolina following a brief illness and surrounded by her family.
She was born on June 14, 1923 to the late Patrick and Mary (Campbell) O'Connell.
She was a 1941 graduate of Central Catholic in Toledo, OH. Patricia married Robert Louis Missig on February 8, 1947, and he preceded her in death on June 26, 1999.
Patricia was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by, Roberta Louise Missig Naimark and Eric Naimark of NC and Mary Catherine Missig Daubenberger and James Daubenberger of WA; Michael Joseph Missig and Sherry Missig of Littlejohn Island, ME, Lawrence Leo Missig of Asheville, NC; 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and loving husband, Patricia was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Patrick Missig, and her sister, Dorothy Krebs.
Patricia worked in the payroll department for the Trojan Powder Company during WWII, and also worked at Citizens Banking Company for several years. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Sandusky, OH and was on the Council of Catholic Women. Patricia was a volunteer docent at the Follet House (Sandusky Library Museum) for 20 years, Providence Hospital for 15 years and our local Senior Center. She was a past President of the Sandusky Yacht Club Auxiliary, and was a founding member of Briarcrest Swim Club. She volunteered at Asheville's Given's Estate Gift shop and Programming for 7 years.
Pat loved dancing, travel, and spending time with family and friends. She was a social butterfly all of her life and had the ability to make others feel loved and special.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 from 4 pm to 7 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Prayer services will be held Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at 9:30 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Avenue, Sandusky, Ohio. Father Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery of Sandusky.
