His greatest joy came from his grandchildren, and also living and working on his beloved Kelleys Island.

He is survived by three sons, Lyle Stephen "Steve" (Carrie) Bickley, North Carolina, Todd (Bobbi) Bickley, Port Clinton, Phillip (Sue) Bickley, Avon, Ohio, grandchildren, Jeff, GiGi, Shane, Adam, Elizabeth, Maureen, Sam, Monica and Claire, great-grandchildren, Reece, Leighton and Maggie, three brothers, Herbert Bickley, Jr., Sandusky, Logan (Joan) Bickley, Huron and Randy Bickley, Florida, and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine "Gerry" (Beatty) Bickley, who died in 2009 and to whom he married August 26, 1950, and two sisters, Nadine Brown and Bonnie Blatt.
