Diana Jean Downey, 77, of Sandusky, passed away on Saturday afternoon, July 23, 2016 in Stein Hospice Care Center after a brief illness.
She was born in Toledo, OH on April 26, 1939 and graduated from Toledo Whitmer High School.
Diana was a homemaker. A creative person, Diana loved flowers, gardening, and decorating, especially for Christmas. She loved to complete puzzles and loved music. She could play the organ. She was compassionate and caring, giving to many charities. Above all else, however, was her family, who will dearly miss her.
Diana is survived by her husband, Glenn R. Downey, whom she married on December 17, 1960; daughters, Cindy Clark, of Chandler, AZ, Kelly Hales, of Fort Worth, TX, Wendy (Jeff Henneman) Cruz, of Sandusky, and Terry (Jude) Fitzthum, of Toledo; eight grandchildren, David, Beth, Ben, Dustin, Kimberly, Kaleb, Kaitlyn, and Ken; and four great-grandchildren, Amaya, Justin, Aubrey, and Riley.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Betty (Trotter) Koleski.
A private service will be held in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Memorial contributions may be made in Diana's name to Stein Hospice, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870 or to Smile Train, www.smiletrain.org.
