Gary E. Lindsley, 74, of Huron, passed away Saturday, August 20, 2016 at Stein Hospice Care Center as the result of injuries suffered in a July 7 auto accident.
Gary was born on February 19, 1942 in Bellevue, OH to the late Clifford E. and Leona M. (Schoenegge) Lindsley.
Gary graduated from York Township Centralized School in 1960 and from DeVry Technical Institute in Chicago in 1964. He began his engineering career at Indiana Bell Telephone Company in Indianapolis in 1964. He retired after 30 years of service from AT&T. Following his retirement he returned to Mount Carmel, OH to pursue his love of farming on the family homestead. Gary was a member of Elks Lodge # 1013 in Bellevue. He also served with the Army National Guard and proudly displayed the American flag.
Gary had a great love for the game of basketball, and especially his classmates and teammates at York. He was an avid horse racing fan and had been to every major track in the United States and several tracks abroad. Gary thoroughly enjoyed entertaining his family and friends during the winter months at the Gulf beaches on 30A.
He is survived by his sister Gloria Lindsley of Huron; nieces Ronda Soper of Huron and Marcy Baker of Sandusky; and several loving cousins.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents.
