Charlie C. May Sr., 92, of Sandusky, left this earth for a better place, Thursday, September 1, 2016, in Providence Care Center.
He was born on May 7, 1924 in Crenshaw Co., AL, to Clemie and Annie (Guther) May.
Charlie was married to Ruby Lee (Harris) May for 73 years, they moved to Sandusky in 1952.
He was employed by the former Ferrell Cheek Steel Co. for 30 plus years.
He enjoyed his family, gardening, baseball, and fishing. Charlie was a member of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church until his health declined.
Charlie is survived by his children, Rufus May and Undraye (Elijah) Hunley, both of Sandusky, Scott May, Bloomington, IN; grandchildren, Brandon (NySheika) Hunley, Indian Head, MA, Scott (Maria) May, Jr., Bloomington, IN, Sean (Grace) May, Chapel Hill, N.C., Michael May, Chicago, IL, Jennifer May and Alicia May, both of Bowling Green, OH, and Jackie May, Toledo, OH; great-grandchildren, Brian Hunley, Sandusky, Bryson Hunley, Indian Head, MA, Keria May, Bloomington, IN, Layla May and Lilly Anna May, both of Chapel Hill, N.C.
He was preceded in death by his wife; sons, Charlie May in infancy, and Charles May; daughter, Dorothy May; grandson, John May; granddaughter, Heather Hunley; five sisters; and three brothers.
Friends may call on Tuesday, September 6, 2016, from 11 A.M. until time of funeral services at 1 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Rev. Curtis L. Johnson, Jr., will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
