Shirley Ann (Oswald) Schenk, 81, of Sandusky passed away peacefully Friday morning September 2, 2016 in Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky after a brief illness.
She was born in Elyria on July 18, 1935, to the late Norman and Augusta Oswald.
Shirley was a dance instructor for Kay Lutz Dance Studio and the sole bookkeeper for Bridget's Bridal Service.
Shirley was devoted to her family and friends, never missing an opportunity to lend a hand. She was an avid golfer and bowler, becoming a member of the Sandusky Bowling Hall of Fame in 2016. She was active at St. Paul Lutheran Church as a member of the choir, bell choir and numerous committees.
Shirley, a 1953 graduate of Sandusky High School continued to support the Blue Streaks by attending her children's and grandchildren's numerous school events. She was a member of "Girls Club" who met every month for the past 63 years. She was always ready for a game of cards and loved family gatherings.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 61 years, Walter "Bud" Schenk; her children Mitchell (Wendy) Schenk and Tracee (James) Duncan of Sandusky; grandchildren Kailee (Nathan) Weiker, Alexa McGuire, Dalton Schenk, Wyatt Schenk and Bradley Duncan; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister Mildred Holman, brother Kenneth Oswald and two brothers in infancy.
Friends may call from 3-7:00 P.M. Monday, September 5, 2016 and from 10:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2211 Mills Street, Sandusky. Rev. Merlin Jacobs will officiate. Burial will be in the Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
