Ronald G. ("Duke") Miller Sr., 78, of Sandusky passed away September 2, 2016 at Stein Hospice from a lengthy illness.
Ron was born June 11, 1938 in Youngstown, OH to the late Jack and Ida Mae (Leibengood) Miller.
He is a veteran of the U.S. Army and Army National Guard. Ron worked at Chrysler Dealership and retired from Sandusky City Schools where he was a Custodian and Boiler Room Operator for 24 years. He also worked briefly at Meijer and Genesis (Home Depot). He also maintained lawns for elderly friends. Ron loved woodworking, especially making Rocking Horses for many of his grandchildren and friends, as well as working in his garage.
Ron is survived by his wife of 55 years, Lucille (Gebard) Miller of Sandusky; children, Vicki (Bill) McElroy of Sandusky, Mark (Sheryl) Miller of Huron, Ronald (Lee Springer) Miller Jr. of Milan, Kim (Alvin) Greear of Sandusky, and Tracy (James) Howard of Fairborn; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 1 great great-grandchild; 2 brothers, Jim and Donald (Marion) Miller, both of Sandusky; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ron is preceded in death by his grandson, Anthony Esposito; brother, Richard Miller; and sister, Marilyn Longnecker.
Friends may call on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home on Thursday, September 8, 2016 at 11:00 am with Pastor Dave Brown and Chaplain Mel Sayler presiding. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
