James A. Huey, 89, of Sandusky died early Sunday morning, June 26, 2011 in the Stein Hospice Care Center, Sandusky following a brief illness.
He was born January 16, 1922 in Harrisburg, PA., and was a U.S. Army veteran of WW II. On July 17, 1956, he married his wife, the former Faith I. Green. Jim retired from the former Farrell-Cheek Steel Company, where he had been employed for 40 years. He was a member of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Sandusky, where he served on the church council, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. He was also a member of the Commodore Denig Post 83, American Legion and the Lowell C. Hein Post 2927, V.F.W.
He is survived by his children: Cheryl (Bernard) Pfefferle of Castalia, Richard (Nancy) Huey of Fremont, Candance Alley of Kansas City, MO., Randy Huey and Roberta Huey, both of Sandusky, nine grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three step grandchildren, three step great grandchildren, one brother: Patrick Huey of Los Angeles, CA., nieces, nephews and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Faith I. (Green) Huey in 1999, his parents: Charles & Mary (Flick) Huey, five brothers: William, John, Robert, Leo and Thomas, two sisters: Virginia and Marguret.
Friends may call from 2:00-5:00 PM Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. On Wednesday, June 29, 2011, the body will be taken to Resurrection Lutheran Church, 216 Pennsylvania Avenue, Sandusky to lie in state from 9:30 AM until time of funeral at 10:30 AM. The Rev. Kathleen Shuck will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
