Robert G. "Dutch" Yost, 92, residing in Sandusky, passed away Monday, September 12, 2016 at Ohio Veteran's Home.
Robert was born on February 6, 1924 in Sandusky, OH to the late George and Gertrude (Rhode) Yost.
Robert was a Veteran of the U.S. Marines 4th Marine Division who proudly served his country during WWII in the Pacific Campaign. He retired from New Departure in 1983 after 30 years of service. Robert was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and AMVETS, and the Sandusky Eagles and Sandusky Moose Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, daily drives to the water, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Robert is survived by his wife, Mary F. (Jacob) Gutzeit-Yost of Mansfield, OH; daughter, Sharon Clark of Long Beach, CA; son, Michael Yost of Sandusky; step-daughter, Cheryl Cox of Mansfield, OH; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Robert is preceded in death by his first wife, LaVone Yost in 1986; brother, Harry Yost; and sisters, Florence Yost and Helen Fox.
Friends may call on Friday, September 16, 2016 from 11:00 AM until the time of funeral services at 1:00 PM in the Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron. Marines Forever will conduct graveside military honors.
