Glenn Eugene “Gene” Gittinger, 73, Sandusky, died on Monday, July 4, 2011 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on December 29, 1937 n Green Springs, Ohio.
Glenn graduated from Sandusky High School in 1955, and received an Associate’s Degree from Owens Technical College. He served in the National Guard.
He was employed by O.E. Meyer, and worked for the Shell Station on Perkins Ave.
He was a member of the Free Masons and a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 25 years. He loved to bowl and use the computer.
Glenn is survived by his daughter, Cheryl (Karl) Kuenzel, Kalamazoo, MI; sons, Todd (Loretta) Gittinger, Pennsylvania, and Bradley Gittinger, Sturgis, MI; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister, Jeannett (Ray) Smith, Upper Sandusky; brothers, Paul Gittinger, Indiana, Dale (Christie) Gittinger, Bellevue, OH, Bruce (Jone) Gittinger, Fairfax, VA; former wives, Marjorie Dobberteen, Surgis, MI, and Betty Jo Gittinger, Sandusky; sister-in-law, Nadine Gittinger, Marion, OH; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Jeannette (Johnson) Gittinger; and brother, Delbert Gittinger.
There will be no visitation. Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Erie County Senior Center Meals on Wheels, 620 E. Water St., Sandusky, or to St. John’s United Church of Christ, 2712 W. Mason Rd., Milan, OH 44846.
