Ruth G. Nelson, 80, of Norwalk, died Monday morning, July 11, 2011 at her residence following a brief illness.
She was born April 26, 1931 in Berlin Heights, Ohio, and on August 15, 1953 she married William L. Nelson. Ruth was a 16 year employee of Gyrus ACMI, Inc. Norwalk, working from 1980 until 1996. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 46, Bellevue. Ruth was also an active Clover Buds Advisor for 12 years for the Desperadoes 4H Club. She loved her horses and taking care of the horse stalls, collecting snowmen, gardening, flowers, but most of all, she loved her family and her 4H families. She was known as “Ram Gram”.
She is survived by her children: Laura (Randy) Yates of Bellevue, William (Pam) Nelson of New Haven, Irene (John) Poore of Norwalk, grandchildren: Holly (Darrell) Rose of Bellevue, Lisa Price and Joe McGlothen of Huron, James Price, Robert Nelson, both of Norwalk, great grandchildren: Mary Rose of New London, Melanie and Andrew Rose of Bellevue, one sister: Betty Pearce of Kingston, TN., nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William L. Nelson in 1994, three children in infancy, one son: Bruce A. Nelson, one grandson: William T. Nelson, one great granddaughter: Monica B. Rose, her parents: Floyd & Edna (Swartz) Smith and two brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 2:00-4:00 & 6:00-8:00 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Monroeville Chapel, 109 Monroe Street, Monroeville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, July 15, 2011. Pastor Ralph Flynn of the Faith Bible Church of Bellevue will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Berlin Heights, Ohio.
