Helen Krafty, 101, residing in Oregon and formerly of Sandusky, passed away Monday afternoon, December 5, 2016 at the Little Sisters of the Poor of Oregon.
Helen one of nine children welcomed into a very happy family on September 7, 1915 in Sandusky, OH, to the late Michael W. and Helena A. (Lilly) Krafty.
While living in Sandusky, she was a member of St. Mary's Parish and later Holy Angels Parish. After moving to the Little Sisters of the Poor in Cleveland, OH, Helen volunteered for kitchen duties and loved working with the staff. Helen enjoyed reading, visiting the outside shrines and spending time praying in the chapel.
Helen is survived by her sister, Sister M. Jamesetta Krafty SND of Toledo, OH and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives in Ohio and Texas.
In addition to her parents, Helen is preceded in death by her sisters, Sister Mary Walter SND, Margaret Fallon and Esther Weber; brothers, Joseph, William, Tom and Jim Krafty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at the Little Sisters of the Poor, 930 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon, OH 43616. Private family burial will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations be made to the wonderful work of the Little Sisters of the Poor of Oregon, 930 S. Wynn Rd., Oregon, OH 43616.
