Doris M. Chafee, 84, of Sandusky, died Monday, December 5, 2016, in Providence Care Center.
She was born on May 20, 1932 in Akron, OH, to the late Heinz and Wilhelmina (Doebler) Burger.
She was a graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and received her Bachelor Degree in Science and Business Administration from Kent State University in 1954.
She started Chafee's Marina on Catawba Island and was a homemaker.
Doris played the organ at Resurrection Lutheran Church, Catawba, in the 1960's, loved watching birds and most importantly took care of her children while they were growing up.
She is survived by her children, Steven (Jean) Chafee, Oak Harbor, OH, Sandra (Dave) Ostheimer, Sandusky, and K (Heather Gabel) Chafee Jr., Port Clinton, OH.; grandchildren, Rebecca, Rachael, and Caitlin; step grandchildren, Amanda, Ashley, Alexis, and Carter; step great-grandchildren, Lilly and Jack.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a special cousin, Anne.
Private visitation and services will be held at Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Paul Bushhorn of Calvary Temple will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Port Clinton.
