Irma P. Woods, 75, Sandusky, transitioned into eternal life on Monday, December 5, 2016 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
Irma was the second oldest child born to Frank Woods, Sr. and Blanche (nee Brown) Woods on December 11, 1940 in Brookhaven, Mississippi. The family relocated to Sandusky, Ohio when Irma was a child.
Under the Pastorate of Rev. C. L. Harris, Irma was baptized as a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church. During her 63-years as a faithful member, Irma's service was given to the finance committee, Busy Bee Circle, the Women's Day Choir, Women's Missionary, and the After-School Tutoring Ministry.
A 1959 graduate of Sandusky High School, Irma was an intellectual. Her passions were reading, cooking, and spending quality time with her family, especially her three grandchildren. Irma was previously employed by Foster Grants, New Departure Hyatt, and the Erie County Juvenile Detention Center from where she retired in 2001 after more than twenty-years of service.
Irma leaves to cherish her memory her loving son, Eric F. (Angela) Woods, of Sandusky; grandchildren, Eric J. Woods, Cincinnati, and Elijah Woods, and Amaya Woods, both of Sandusky; sisters, Marjorie Taylor, Geraldine Darden, Pamela Kidd, Karin Moore; brother, Anthony Woods; sisters-in-law, Catherine Woods and Stephanie Woods; brother-in-law, LeRoy Moore, all of Sandusky, special aunts, Mable Dobbs, Brookhaven, MS and Juanita Brown, Columbus, OH; godson, Kendall Norris; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Irma was preceded into eternity by her parents; maternal and paternal grandparents; brother, Frank Woods, Jr.; sisters, Mary Ellen Brown and Denise Brown; brother-in-law James Green; several aunts and uncles, and a nephew Scott Green.
Friends may call on Friday, December 9, 2016, from 6-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 1 P.M. in Ebenezer Baptist Church, 1215 Pierce St., Sandusky. Rev. Clayton E. Howard will officiate. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive visitors at 1615 Pierce St., Sandusky.
