Clyde Ayers Sr., 82, of Sandusky, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016, in Firelands Regional Medical Center.
He was born on January 5, 1934, in Lee County, Virginia, to the late Hubert and Lydia (Estep) Ayers.
Clyde was a U.S. Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
He was employed by Ford Motor Co. in Sandusky for 37 years, retiring in 1996.
Clyde loved sports and being with his family.
He is survived by his children, Gary Ayers and Clyde "Ed" (Beth) Ayers, Jr., both of Sandusky, and Deanna (Lincoln) Hamilton, Castalia; step daughters, Tina (Bob) Meister, Milan and Kelly Ayers, Monroe, MI; ten grandchildren; twenty one great-grandchildren; brothers, Curtis Ayers, Sebring, FL, and Dwayne David Ayers of Shallotte, North Carolina; several other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Coella (Smith) Ayers; second wife, Patsy (Sandifer) Ayers; parents; a son, Brian Ayers; and a grandson, Matt Ayers.
Friends may call on Sunday, December 13, 2016, from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call on Monday from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. Rev. Ken Hiser will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, with the American Legion Post 83 Color Guard providing the military tribute.
