Rev. Charles Gibson Sr., 95, residing in Huron, passed away Thursday afternoon, December 15, 2016 at Admiral's Pointe Nursing & Rehabilitation Center after a lengthy illness.
Charles was born on November 16, 1921 in Lyndon, KY to the late Roy and Rebecca (Overton) Gibson.
Charles retired from Ford Motor Company in 1983 after 30 years of service. He was a also a pastor for 50 years at various churches. He was a member of Mount Harvest Church of God of Milan. In his spare time, he enjoyed singing, being in nature, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Shirley (Gary) McClory of Sandusky and Mary (Rich) Barnes of Huron; sons, Chester (Margaret) of Norwalk, Marvin of Monroeville, Paul of Sandusky and Charles (Martha) Gibson Jr. of CA; 23 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Charles is preceded in death by his first wife and love of his life of 65 years, Kathleen (Petree) Gibson in 1999; second wife, Eileen (Day) Gibson; daughter, Inez McClung; sons, Junior and Arvin Gibson; grandson, Ralph E. Freeman III; 5 sisters and 5 brothers.
Friends may call on Monday, December 19, 2016 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 12:00 pm at Mount Harvest Church of God, 150 State Rte 113 West, Milan, with Reverends Carl and Joe Woodyard presiding. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
