David Arthur Young, residing in Sante Fe, TX, and formerly of Sandusky, passed from this life Tuesday afternoon, December 20, 2016, in Webster, unexpectedly.
Born August 28, 1937 in Sandusky, Ohio, he was a 1955 graduate of Sandusky High School.
Dave had been a resident of Santa Fe since 1966, and proudly served his country in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the U.S. Navy reserve. He had worked as an engineer for NASA, retiring after 25 years before beginning work with Bendix and Lockheed Martin working at each for 10 years, as well as being a consultant for Rockwell for many years. He was a reserve officer with Galveston County Sheriff's Department and Seabrook Police Department. He was a life member of the NRA, Tidelands Amateur Radio Society, co-owner and operator of DACA Farm and the Seahorse Carriage Company in Galveston. David was a ham radio operator (K8DV-Dave), enjoyed flying his airplane, shooting his guns, collecting steam engines, working crossword puzzles, playing solitaire and was an avid reader.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, of 58 years, Carol, who died just six days before on December 14, 2016, parents, Kenneth Young and Gertrude (Miller) Young Engler; son-in-law, Richard Glenn Hall; and brother-in-law, Frank Fosco, on August 21, 2016..
Survivors include his son, Kenneth Edward Young of Santa Fe; daughters, Jolene Olinda "Joy" Hall and Gala Anne Young both of Santa Fe; sister, Carolann (Young) Fosco of Sandusky, OH; numerous nieces' nephews and other extended family and friends.
A memorial service will be held on December 28, 2016 in Texas, which would have been Dave and Carol's 58th wedding anniversary.
