Carol J. Moyer, 83, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Providence Care Center after a prolonged illness.
Carol was born on August 11, 1933 in Sandusky, OH to the late Henry G. and Mildred A.V. (Rinderly) Ziegler.
Carol attended the University of Toledo and graduated from the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing. She retired from the former Firelands Community Hospital as a registered nurse after 30 years in nursing. Carol was a member of Grace Episcopal Church and a life member of the Toledo Hospital School of Nursing Alumni Association. She was a former member of the Sod Busters Garden Club and a Board of Trustee member of the Sandusky Concert Association. Carol was also on the board of the Sandusky Cultural Center, and served as president of that body for several years. In addition, she was a volunteer at Osborne Elementary School.
In her spare time, Carol enjoyed travel, gardening and had a passion for the arts. She collected sculpture, and regularly attended concerts and the opera. Carol's greatest joy, however, was time spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Carol is survived by her daughter, Dr. Johanna (Donald) Moyer of Cincinnati; son, Bradley J. Moyer of Sandusky; grandchildren, Ashleigh (Steven) Collier, Adam Moyer, and Tristan and Devon Adams; great grandchildren, Braylon and Brienne Collier, and a niece and two nephews.
In addition to her parents, Carol is preceded in death by her husband, former Erie County Prosecuting Attorney, John Moyer; her sister, Leatrice Silvani; and brothers-in-law, Francis Silvani and former Chief Justice of the Ohio Supreme Court, Thomas Moyer.
Friends may call on Wednesday, January 4, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of memorial services at 11:00 am at Grace Episcopal Church, 315 Wayne St., Sandusky with Rev. Jan Smith Wood presiding. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
