Larry W. "Sonny Ruse

Larry W. "Sonny" Ruse, 86, of Norwalk passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016 in the Admiral's Pointe Nursing and Rehabilitation, Huron following a lengthy illness.

He was born May 27, 1930 in Sandusky to Larry and Esther (Walker) Ruse.

Larry was a graduate of Sandusky High School and went on to serve in the Naval Reserves for two years before serving four years with the U.S. Air Force. Larry then began a long career of truck driving before hanging up his "CB" for good in 1992. After that, he held a series of odd jobs as he liked to stay busy and active. Larry enjoyed yard work, his cars and his family. He was always up for an adventure. Anyone who knew Larry will remember his warm booming voice and wonderful bear hugs. He never met a stranger and he had a story for everyone.

Larry is survived by his wife of 49 years, Norma (Brown) Ruse, whom he married on May 27, 1967; his children, Will Ruse of Florida, Laura Milkey of Michigan, Tom (Ilene) Ruse of North Carolina, Karen Ruse of Parma, Lisa (Scott) Mapus of Sandusky and Andrew (Sherrie) Ruse of Upper Sandusky; 10 grandkids and 7 great grandkids; and one special "fur" grandbaby, Maddie. They will all miss him greatly.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn "Sis" Ehrnsberger.

Friends may call Tuesday, January 3, 2017 from 11:30 AM until time of Memorial Service at 1:30 PM at the Pfeil Funeral Home, Sandusky Chapel, 617 Columbus Avenue, Sandusky. Chaplain Dennis Zimmerman will officiate. Burial will be held in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.

Memorial contributions may be made to the wonderful and caring staff at Compassus Hospice, 837 Crocker Road, Westlake, Ohio 44145. The family also wishes to thank both Compassus Hospice and the staff at Admiral's Pointe, as they are all truly angels in disguise.
