Joyce E. (Baker) Mulaney, 85, residing in Huron, passed away Wednesday evening, January 11, 2017 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Joyce was born on June 22, 1931 in Columbus, OH to the late Raymond T. Baker and Inez (Scheid) Felix.
Joyce was a 1949 graduate from Sandusky High School. She retired from the Firelands Chapter of the American Red Cross. She also volunteered at Firelands Regional Medical Center in the ER. Joyce was a member of Christ Episcopal Church of Huron, where she was a beloved member of the choir. She was also a member of the Sandusky Yacht Club Auxiliary, Thunderbird Hills Golf Club and a lifetime member of the Harlequins-Sandusky Community Theatre. In 1953, Joyce began acting and directing numerous productions throughout the years. Joyce and her husband, Jack, where the recipients of the Community Service Award from the Erie County Chamber of Commerce in 2003 and the Sandusky Register Community Award in 2007. She was a former treasurer of the Huron Booster Club, a Cub Scout Mom and a volunteer for the Huron voting precincts. In her spare time, she enjoyed sailing and playing bridge.
Joyce is survived by her son, Michael Mulaney of Huron; daughter, Martha (Mike) Mullins of SC; grandson, Benjamin Howard of SC and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Joyce is preceded in death by her husband, E.J. "Jack" Mulaney in 2014.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 11 am at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 Ohio St., Huron, Ohio. The Rev. Michael S. Floyd and Rev Eugene Smercina will co-officiate. Inurnment will be held in the Christ Episcopal Church columbarium. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
