Kenneth D. Killingsworth

Kenneth D. Killingsworth, age 76, of Castalia, died Friday afternoon, July 22, 2011, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 18, 1935, in McConnelsville, OH, and was a 1953 graduate of Margaretta High School, where he was active in all sports. He was a 19 year employee of Sears, and retired in 1995 after co-owning and operating Curtis Mathes TV with his son Kevin. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing.
Ken was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sandusky. He was a member and past president of the Castalia Lions Club, where he held all offices and was recipient of the Melvin Jones Award, the highest honor bestowed on a Lion. He was also one of the first Boy Scouts in Troop 23 of Castalia.
He is survived by his wife, the former Patricia Mesenburg, to whom he was married for 55 years; two sons Kevin (Deborah) Killingsworth of Castalia, and Kent (Theresa) Killingsworth of Akron, OH; 6 grandchildren Kimberly, Karen, Kenneth, Keith, Kyle, and Kristen; 5 great grandchildren Timothy, John, Nick, Savannah, Steven, and one on the way; two sisters Dolly (John) Mathews of Catawba Island, and Jean Cummings of Punta Gorda, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
Ken was preceded in death by his parents Clyde and Evelyn (Roberts) Killingsworth and a brother Richard Killingsworth in 2002.
Friends may call from 5-8 pm Sunday, July 24, 2011, in the Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington St., Castalia, where the Castalia Lions Club will conduct memorial services at 8 pm. A memorial mass will be held Monday at 12 Noon in St. Mary's Catholic Church, 429 Central Ave., Sandusky, with the Rev. David Nuss officiating. Cremation will follow.
