Emma "Ruth" (Brewer) Lawton

Emma "Ruth" (Brewer) Lawton, 86, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, February 1, 2017 at Lutheran Memorial Home after a lengthy illness.

Ruth was born on July 11, 1930 in Talbotton, GA to the late Ulin B. and Emma (Greathouse) Brewer.

Ruth was employed at the former Good Samaritan Hospital as a nurse's aide, before she retired in 1990 from the Lucas County Board of Developmental Disabilities as a bus driver after 20 years of service. She was an avid reader and enjoyed gambling and spending time with her family.

Ruth is survived by her grandchildren, Melody, Ashley, Charles "Chad" and Lindsay; great-grandchildren, Dalton, Eden and Jonas; sister, Corrine (Max) Opper and Betty (Gene) Cusano; brothers Eddie (Anita) Brewer and Wesley Brewer; son-in-law, Clinton Luck; daughter-in-law, Cindy Skaggs and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her husband, Charles Bruce Lawton in 1999; daughters, Phyllis Ferback and Patricia Luck; son, Charles Lawton; sisters, Jo Bryan, Lillie Kurtz and Mary Ann Siebert; brother, Larry Brewer and son-in-law, Ronald Ferback.

Friends may call on Monday, February 6, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky with Minister Keith Kurtz presiding. Burial will take place at a later date in Restlawn Memorial Park, Perrysburg, OH.
