Rose Benkey-Hoelzer, age 100, residing in Sandusky, passed away peacefully, Tuesday morning, February 28, 2017 at her home.
She was born on August 6, 1916 in Sandusky to the late Anthony and Teresa (Pedini) Muratori.
Rose retired from Dekco Products formerly Vogel's Company, after 50 years of service. She was also a 30 year volunteer at the Firelands Hospital gift shop and also spent much of her free time volunteering for Stein Hospice and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, where she was a life-long member.
Rose was an early member of the former I.A.B. Club and enjoyed playing cards and Mah Jongg with her extended family.
Rose is survived her two daughters, Sheila (Ron) Eccles of Pampa, TX and Roberta (John) Hartung; grandson, Aaron (Abigail) Hartung; great-granddaughter, Hannah Rose Hartung; sister, Dora Mira; brother, Frank "Buddy" (Chris) Muratori; special niece, Dona Martin and several other nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Including her parents, Rose is preceded in death by her first husband, Robert P. Benkey; second husband, Frank "Sam" Hoelzer; four sisters, Mary Phillips, Dena Corso, Josephine Hoelzer-Flettner and Jane Egger, and three brothers, Madio, Louis, and Charles Muratori.
Friends may call on Thursday, March 2, 2017 from 9:30 am until the time of Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 am at Sts. Peter &Paul Catholic Church 510 Columbus Ave. Sandusky, Ohio. Father Joe Steinbauer will officiate. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The Groff Funeral Home and Crematory in Sandusky are assisting the family with arrangements.
