David Lee Davis

David Lee Davis, 80, of Sandusky, went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, in Stein Hospice Care Center.

He was born on August 10, 1936 in Lorain, Ohio, along with his twin Donald W., to Washington and Georgia (Freeman) Davis, a surprise for Dr. Bristol Meyers, his first delivery of black twins in Lorain.

He attended Lorain Schools, where he was active in sports, with all of his brothers and sisters. David enjoyed children Bible Study and earned his personal Bible at the age of twelve, knowing all the books of the new and old testament.

David married Barbara Alexander, and moved to Sandusky, where he worked for small companies, 17 years at Cunningham Drug Store, Vermilion, and retired from Ford Motor Co., where he retired after 38 years.

He was an active member of Progress Lodge #85 F. & A.M., and the Order of Eastern Star, enjoyed traveling with his family, working was he motto, and always in the mood of laughter.

He leaves to cherish his life, his wife of 63 years, Barbara (Alexander) Davis; daughters, Darlene (Lorenzo) Walk, and Delisa L. Davis, both of Sandusky, and Shelia Davis, Columbus, OH; son, Donavon Davis, Sandusky; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sisters, Eloise Smith and Mary Logan, both of Elyria, OH; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents; son, David L. Davis Jr.; twin brother, Donald W. Davis; brothers, James Davis and King Edward Davis; sisters, Lannall Campbell, Juanita Ausi, and Carolyn Harris.

Friends may call on Monday, March 6, 2017, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Mount Harvest House Missionary Baptist Church, 265 Jackson St., Sandusky. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
