Maureen Alice (Chambers) Prack, 82, of rural Norwalk, died Saturday March 11, 2017.
Maureen was born September 1, 1934 in Cleveland, Ohio, to the late John F. and Dora E. (Kenney) Chambers.
Maureen was raised in the Cleveland, Ohio area and attended Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, where she met the late Edward M. Prack. Upon graduation, they married and began their life in the Cuyahoga Falls area. In 1963 they moved to Norwalk, Ohio, when they purchased the K-H Drug Store.
She worked, besides raising five children, as the initial payroll clerk, traveling pharmacist to the local nursing homes, as well as fill in pharmacist as needed. Post retirement, she volunteered at St. Mary and St. Paul elementary schools helping youngsters improve both their self-confidence and academics. Maureen and Ed traveled to several destinations within the US and abroad. Additionally, Maureen had a great sense of humor, enjoyed the English language, crossword puzzles, reading, and needlepoint, as well as reading to and playing games with her grandchildren.
Maureen was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Affectionately donned the ‘Grammar Police' of the family, she raised future posse members to carry on her tradition.
Maureen is survived by her sister, Madeline D'Allura, by her children, Edward R. Prack PhD of Phoenix, AZ, Mark S. Prack (Pam Morrow) of rural Norwalk, OH, and Monica A. (Prack) Harty of Sun City West, AZ; nine grandchildren: Brandy Yowell (Jamie), Melissa, Michelle, Geoff, Mark (Jackie), Anne Marie (Mark), John Prack, Christopher (Marina) and Nicole Harty, and six great-grandchildren Lauren, Cameron (Melissa), Andrew, Ali, Emmy (Brandy), and Brynn (Michelle)
Maureen is preceded in death by her husband, Edward M Prack (2005), by her daughter, Annette (Nettie) Prack (2014), by her son, Dr. Eric G Prack (Amy Prack) (2017), and by her sister, Dorothy Bienz (2015).
Friends may call from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 15, 2017, at Walker Funeral Home, 98 W Main St. Norwalk. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, in St. Paul Catholic Church, 91 East Main Street, Norwalk, Ohio. Rev. Kenneth Morman will officiate.. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Cemetery, Peru Township.
