Ronald J. Dreschel, 63, residing in Sandusky, passed away Sunday, March 12 surrounded by his family at University Hospitals after a brief battle with cancer.
Ronald was born on January 28, 1954 in Sandusky to James and Rita (Galindo) Dreschel.
Ron was a 1973 graduate of Margaretta High School. He served in the US Army as a medic and was stationed in Germany. He was employed with the Renaissance House in Sandusky as a resident care giver for the last four years, and had formerly been employed with US Tsubaki for more than 30 years. Ron was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church, Sandusky Amvets Post #29, International Association and Machinist Local 2159, where he was an active member serving in numerous leadership roles. In his spare time, he enjoyed bird watching, music, reading, and gardening. Ron was a huge history buff, and relished visiting the library. He loved spending time with his family and friends, and his dogs, Maggie and Lucy.
Ron is survived by his wife, Donna (Michel) Dreschel, whom he married on May 21, 1983. He is also survived by his daughters, Jessica Dreschel of Akron and Kristina (Richard) Pellegrino of Boston; mother, Rita Dreschel; granddaughter, Emmelene Rose Pellegrino; brothers, John (Andrea) and James Dreschel both of Sandusky, and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Ron is preceded in death by his father, James Dreschel.
Friends may call on Wednesday, March 15 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on March 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Angels Catholic Church, 428 Tiffin Ave., Sandusky. Father Matt Frisbee will officiate.
