Donald E. Hackenburg age 79 of Clyde passed away Sunday, July 31, 2011 at his residence. He was born February 11, 1932 in York Twp. the son of the late Clark & Alma (Bose) Hackenburg.
Don was employed for over 42 years with the NKP and NS railroads. He was an US Army veteran serving in the Korean War.
He was a member of the Clyde Eagles and collected antiques for 30 yrs. Don enjoyed flea marketing and traveling having traveled to 45 states.
Survivors include his wife Barbara L. (Scheerer) Hackenburg whom he married July 26, 1952 in Toledo, sons; Richard (Paula) Hackenburg of Bellevue, Keith (Mary) Hackenburg of Clyde, daughters; Susan (Bill) Bergeman of Charlotte, NC, Beth Hackenburg of Clyde, grandchildren; Melinda Potter, Amber Fin, Clinton Hackenburg, Brett Beebe, Kyle Hackenburg, Ryan Hackenburg, Jessica Hackenburg, sisters; Marolyn (Edgar) Moyer of Bellevue, Carolyn Ott of Clyde and special friends the Robert & Cindy Cox family. In addition to his parents his brothers, William, Merlin, Harold, 2 infants and his sister Gertrude Roe Ball preceded him in death.
Friends will be received on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2011 from 5 – 8 pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue where a funeral service will be held Thursday at 10:00 am. Burial will follow at McPherson Cemetery, Clyde with full military honors.
