Blanche B. Cesare

After a long, full life, Blanche B. Cesare, 92, of Norwalk, passed away Wednesday March 22, 2017. According to her wishes, she began her next journey from her own home, surrounded by her loving family.

Blanche was born August 2, 1924, in Fairpoint, Ohio to the late Anthony and Mary (Yurosik) Leonart.

She attended Saint Clairsville High School before leaving home for factory work in Cleveland during WW II. After moving to Norwalk with her husband and two sons in 1960, she worked as a baker and clerk for the West Baking Company and the T&A Food Town supermarket before retiring in 1985. She had attended the Norwalk First United Methodist Church and the North Fairfield Baptist Church.

Blanche was a devoted wife, mom and grandma who, more than anything else in life, loved taking care of her family. She was a talented cook and baker who enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and yard work, boating and fishing on Lake Erie, vacationing in northern Ontario, bargain hunting and music (especially 60s rock, classic country or a good polka). She is well known and loved for her quick sense of humor, her generosity and her zest for life. She hosted numerous holidays and family gatherings for many years and and often insisted that visitors to her home never went hungry or left empty-handed. Moreover, she graciously opened her home as a main rehearsal site for Norwalk area rock bands her sons formed during the 1960s and a place where their friends felt welcomed to hang out. Blanche was a wonderfully active, caring person and a strong, resourceful woman long before it became fashionable. Her strength of character, her giving ways, her laughter and jokes and her fun-loving approach to life will be deeply missed by her family and everyone who knew and loved her.

Blanche is survived by her husband of 65 years, Robert A. Cesare of Norwalk, her two sons, Larry Cesare (Lorene) of Wooster, Ohio and Robert D. Cesare (Patricia) of Akron, Ohio, her three grandchildren, Sasha (Steven Walker) Cesare of Austin, Texas, Nicholas Cesare of Brooklyn, New York and Nina Cesare of Seattle, Washington and her great grandson, Frederick Walker of Austin, Texas.

She was preceded in death by his parents, her brothers, Joseph Malyerick, John Malyerick, Mike Malyerick and Adam Leonart and her sisters, Ann Mahonic, Mary Polomic and Julia Gdula.

Friends may call on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 1:00 p.m. until time of services at 2:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 West Main St. Norwalk, Ohio. Inurnment will follow on a later date at Holly Memorial Gardens in Pleasant Grove, Ohio.
