Helen L. Brown, 87, of Norwalk, Ohio, passed away early Saturday morning, March 25, 2017 in Gaymont Nursing Center, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease.
She was born May 9, 1929 in Ridgefield Township, Huron County, Ohio, to the late Edward and Olivia (Obringer) Stallkamp, and was a lifelong area resident.
Helen was a member of St. Alphonsus Catholic Church where she was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and was a 1947 graduate of Monroeville High School. She was a wife and mother, and cleaned homes and offices in the area. Helen was a Red Cross Volunteer, enjoyed working at the Steak Feed's at the Bronson Norwalk Conservation Club, flower gardening and arranging, vegetable gardening, baking pies, and taking care of her chickens.
She is survived by her children, Michael E. Brown of New London, Ohio, John H. (Nancy) Brown of Collins, Ohio, Mary O. (Rusty) Ryan of Clyde, Ohio, Thomas J. (Carolyn) Brown of Norwalk, Ohio, Jean M. (Dale) Hammersmith of New London, Ohio, James G. (Diana) Brown of Monroeville, Ohio, Edward G. Brown of Tennessee, and Donald J. Brown of Monroeville, Ohio.
Helen is also survived by 16 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and by her brother, Donald (Joanne) Stallkamp of Monroeville, Ohio, and by her god-children.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward G. Brown in 2003, by infants Timothy in 1962, and Theresa in 1967, by her daughter, Beth Ann Brown in 1973, and by her siblings, Edward Stallkamp, Alice Zeller, Mildred Kluding, Betty Kluding, and Margaret Smith, and by her daughter in law, Sharon (Deppen) Brown in 2016.
Friends may call on Tuesday, March 28, 2017 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in Walker Funeral Home, 98 W. Main St., Norwalk, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church, 1322 Settlement Rd., Norwalk, Ohio. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
