Blaine Thomas Powell, 79, of Sandusky, passed away on Monday, March 27, 2017 in University Hospital Cleveland Medical Center after an illness.
He was born on February 2, 1938 in Sandusky to the late Raymond and Beatrice (Roth) Powell.
A 1956 St. Mary's graduate, Blaine worked for many years, and retired from, Roth Printing.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps. veteran, serving from 1956-1959. A member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Blaine will be dearly missed by his friends and family.
Blaine is survived by his son, Shaun Powell, of Marysville, OH; grandchildren, Victoria and Pierce; sister, Mary Bea Opfer, of Lomita, CA; former wife, Jacqueline (Poggiali) Powell; and other family members and friends. A special "thank you" from Blaine's immediate family to his aunt and cousin, Barb Roth and Lori Carlyle, for their support of and love shown to Blaine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Powell.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, April 5 in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Michael P. Roemmele officiating. Burial will follow in Calvary Cemetery, where the Marine Corps. Forever Honor & Color Guard will present military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Blaine's name to St. Mary's Catholic Church, or to Erie County Veterans Service Commission.
