Ernest Gilbert age 91 of Bellevue passed away Thursday, October 14, 2010 at Bellevue Hospital. He was born December 1, 1918 in Bellevue the son of the late Jacob & Ida (Markle) Gilbert. Ernie was a farmer, carpenter, worked at Bellevue Farmers Elevator and retired from Bellevue Water and Filtration Plant in 1982. He was a US Army veteran serving in the Korean War. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church where he was a past trustee, Bellevue Eagles Club Aerie #490, Bellevue VFW, Bellevue American Legion, FFA Alumni, past president of Four County Young at Heart and was a past board member of St. John’s Nursery School. Survivors include his wife Frances (Heitz) Bogner Gilbert whom he married May 1, 1992 at Immaculate Conception Church, Bellevue, daughters, Rita Hay of Bellevue, Pam (Dan) Verhoff of Bellevue, step-son, Dave Bogner of Oak Wood Village, OH, step-daughter, Donna (Tom) Schlosser of Fostoria, grandchildren, Jeff Hay(Joyce) Hay of Portage, MI, Jodi (Chuck) Gaietto of Tiffin, Betsy (Matthew) Miller, Michael (Cindy) Moyer, Danielle Verhoff all of Bellevue, great-grandchildren, Griffen & Jennifer Miller, Rachelle Forney, Taylor Hay Autumn Stalsworth, Blake Gaietto, Cutter Clouse, step-grandchildren Angela (Dennis) Welly, Carrie (Ryan) Lundebuger, Mark (Heather) Gaietto, Ashley Gaietto, step-great grandchildren, Hanna & Hailey Welly, Jackson & Isaac Lundebuger, brothers, Charles (Dorothy) Gilbert of Greensprings, Richard (Peggy) Gilbert of FL, Roy ( Jean) Gilbert of Huron. In addition to his parents his 1st wife Doris (Eisenhauer) Gilbert whom he married Sept. 28, 1940, daughter, Audrey Moyer, son –in law, Richard Moyer, son-in-law, Dennis Hay, grandson, Seth Verhoff, sisters, Irene Decker, Jennie Kohl, and his brothers, William Gilbert and Walter Gilbert preceded him in death. Friends will be received Sunday, October 17, 2010 from 2 – 4 & 6 – 8 pm at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue. A funeral service will be officiated by Rev. Karen Kaye Monday 11:00 am at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St., Bellevue. Burial will follow with military honors at Sandhill Cemetery.
