Richard J. Frederick, 74, residing in Milan, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday, May 8, 2017 at Fisher-Titus Medical Center.
Richard was born on January 21, 1943 in Bellevue, OH to the late Herman V. and Thelma R. (Porter) Frederick.
Richard was a 1961 graduate from Port Clinton High School and attended Ohio State University. He retired as a bricklayer from Mosser Construction after 39 years. Richard was a member of the Bricklayer's Local 46 for 50 years. He was also a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Huron, the Lyman Boat Owner's Association and Middle Bass Island Yacht Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, woodworking, fishing and boating on Lake Erie in his Lyman. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Richard is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carol (Perry) Frederick, whom he married on September 22, 1962 at St. Michael Church in Monroe, MI. He is also survived by his four sons, Chris (Sherri) of MI, Dan (Tina) and David (Kathy) both of Milan and Dean (Ansley) Frederick of Point Place, OH; grandchildren, Zachary, Keith, Nicholas, Breanna, Madisyn, Adam, Rachel and Rylee; step-grandchildren, Darren and Chanse; sisters, Ruth (Dr. Robert) Stetson of CT, Carolyn Kaman of Sandusky, Jeannie Frederick of Norwalk and Susan Gottschalk of FL; brother, David (Linda) Frederick of Put-In-Bay and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and his Springer Spaniel, Sailor.
In addition to his parents, Richard is preceded in death by his brother, Jim Frederick.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 11, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory Milan Chapel, 1 S. Main St., Milan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 12 at 11:00 am at St. Peter Catholic Church, 430 Main St., Huron with Father Jeffrey McBeth presiding. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery, Milan.
