Kaye Ann Bower

Kaye Ann Bower, 79, Perkins Township, passed away peacefully early Monday morning, May 8, 2017 in Firelands Regional Medical Center.

She was born on October 28, 1937 in Fremont, Ohio to the late Charles F. and Sarah O. (Hollowell) Bliss.

She was a dedicated and phenomenal wife and mother to her husband and children. Despite a great number of illnesses and adversities, she dutifully cared for an ailing husband and raised three successful children.

Kaye was an active participant in her children's education, serving on the PTA and as a classroom mother at Garfield Elementary, East Toledo Junior High, and Jone Junior High Schools. Despite her physical limitations, she was always one of the first parents to volunteer for bake sales, school trips, and any other activities that enriched her children's education.

She was especially proud of her children, each in their own way. Kaye was proud of William and the dedication he showed helping to take care of his father. She gleamed with pride as Jerry was the first in the family to graduate college, and then receive his graduate degrees. And finally, with her lovely daughter, as she continues to excel in her professional career.

Kaye is survived by her dedicated and devoted son, Jerry Joseph, beloved son and daughter, William Charles (Bobbie) and Valerie Ann (Robert James Finkbeiner II); her precious grandson, Robert James III; precious granddaughters, Christina (John) and Kimberley (Mark); loving great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Jordan, Justin, Xavier, and Marquell; Sam Frank, her beloved brother-in-law, step-granddaughter, Taylor Sue TenEyck; as well as several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Maurice Richard Bower; her beloved parents; in-laws, Alta Hernly and Nina Duncan; sisters, Eileen Mehlow, Janet Kiesel, Aurelia Dienes, and Marilyn Frank; and brothers, Perry Bliss, LeRoy Bliss, and Darwin Bliss.

A private Celebration of Kaye's Life will take place in the Toft Event Room. Friends are encouraged to share their memories and condolences by visiting toftfh.com.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a college scholarship grant, in Kaye's name, to BGSU Foundation, 1 University Dr., Huron, OH 44839 (Memo line: in memory of Kaye Bower, Fund 300412). This legacy college fund will assist mothers working toward their degrees who have an emergency financial need.
