Ronald R. Brightman, age 64, of Sandusky, passed away peacefully at his home Tuesday night, August 9, 201, following a lengthy illness. He was born January 14, 1947, in Sandusky, and was a 1965 graduate of Margaretta High School. He was employed by Allied Systems as a Teamsters Car Hauler for 34 years and served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the VFW and the Eagles, and he loved fishing, hunting, spending time with his family, and cooking out.
He is survived by his wife Karen (Schenck) Brightman, to whom he was married 43 years; two sons Bryan (Wendy) Brightman of Saline, MI and Shane (Alysia) Brightman of Sandusky; 1 daughter Jennifer (Brian) Roach of Lakewood; 7 grandchildren Elizabeth and Sophie, Emilee and Courtney, Madalyn, Mitchell, and Mason; 1 brother Don (Geri) of Phoenix, AZ; and 2 sisters Darlene (Terry) Snyder of Oak Harbor and Diane (Edward) Herhold of Sandusky.
He is preceded in death by his parents Richard and Dorothy (Mesenburg) Brightman.
Friends may call Monday August 15, 2011, from 11:00 AM until time of services at 1:00 PM in Ransom Funeral Home, 610 S. Washington Street, Castalia. Brother Matthew Dahm will officiate. Cremation has taken place.
