Glenn G. Hime, 97, of Huron Township passed away Monday morning May 15, 2017 in the Meadows at Osborn Park with his loving family at his side.
He was born August 3, 1919 in Bellevue Ohio, the son of the late John and Sarah (Shelley) Hime.
Glenn was a 1939 graduate of Bellevue High School where he lettered in football, basketball and track. In 1938, he received All Ohio Honorable Mention for basketball, being the first basketball player at Bellevue to receive this recognition.
He retired from the Ford Motor Company, Sandusky plant after 25 years of service. Glenn treasured his time spent with family and many close friends. He enjoyed watching and participating in sports and was an avid golfer. Glenn was a fan of the Ohio State football and basketball teams.
He was member of Trinity United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, Science Lodge No. 50, F.&A.M., 32nd Degree Mason, Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo, life member of the Sandusky Elks Lodge 285 and UAW Local 1216.
He is survived by his wife, Phyllis, with whom he celebrated 71 years of marriage in 2016; one son, David (Janet) Hime of Huron; two granddaughters, MeriKim Hime and Kristen Hime (David) Landals both of Chicago; special nieces, Barbara (Terry) Godfrey and Bonnie Moore and many other much loved nieces, nephews and great nieces and great nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers, Merrill, Roy, Raymond, Robert and Clifford Hime; and two sisters, Kathleen (Carl) Krawetzki and Thelma (Robert) Balok.
Friends may call on Monday, May 22, 2017 from 10:00 AM until time of Memorial Service at 11:00 AM in the Trinity United Methodist Church, 214 E. Jefferson Street, Sandusky. Rev. Douglas Winner will officiate. A luncheon at the church will immediately follow the service. Inurnment will follow in the Bellevue City Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Stein Hospice Service, 1200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, Ohio 44870 or to the donor's favorite charity.
