Herbert Davis, Sr., 67, of Sandusky, departed this life on Saturday, May 13, 2017 in Stein Hospice Care Center surrounded by family and friends.
He was born on April 7, 1950 in Anderson, S. Carolina to the late Eulicee Stowers and Alice Davis.
He was a member of Mt. Zion C.O.G.I.C., Sandusky, and worked at ICP until his retirement.
Herbert is survived by his daughters, Traci Porter, Janet Porter, Patricia Raquel Porter, and Kimberly (Andra) Fuller; son, Herbert, Jr.; two grandchildren who he raised, Rakim Davis and Tanika Porter; sister, Elease Hunter; brother, James (Ernestine) Davis; 2 brothers-in-law, Isaiah (Jennifer) Hill and Mitchell (Lenice) Hyatt; sister-in-law, Sylvester (Mela) Jeffries; special sons, Taryll Tye, Calvin Churchwell, Craig Conway, and Arthur Irby; good friends, Thomas Arrington and "Cheeseburger"; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia Alma Davis; children, James Porter, Carmela Davis, and Sonya Davis; grandson, Shaquille Porter; maternal grandparents, Hattie and Thomas Davis; paternal grandmother; Sarah Stowers; sisters, Willie Wee Dunn and Irene Knight; and brothers, Roosevelt Davis, Rufus Davis, R.L. Davis, and Herman Davis.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 20 until time of funeral services at 11 a.m. in Mt. Zion C.O.G.I.C., 1814 Second St., Sandusky. Supt. Ross Johnson will officiate and Rev. Jerome Johnson will give the eulogy. Burial will follow in Oakland Cemetery.
