Gifford Greene Jr., 91, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Parkvue Health Care Center after a brief illness.
Gifford was born on August 23, 1925 in Anthras, TN to the late Gifford and Grace A. (Goodman) Greene Sr.
Gifford was a Veteran of the US Navy. He retired from the Ford Motor Company after 20 years of service. Gifford was a member of Second Chance Chapel. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening, reading the Bible, fishing and hunting. His greatest joy in life was spending time with his family. His grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren were his pride and joy.
Gifford is survived by his daughters, Mary Lichtle of Castalia, Patty (Lonnie) Shimer of Castalia, Alice Bryant of Sandusky and Linda (David) Murphy of Sandusky; sons, James Greene of Monroeville and Rev. Donald (Linda) Greene of Sandusky; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sister, Helen Dabney of Sandusky; sister-in-law, Ruth Worosher of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Gifford is preceded in death by his wife, Grace Greene; sons, Daniel in infancy, Clyde, Robert and Clayton Greene; 4 great-grandchildren and infant sister, Vivian.
Friends may call on Thursday, May 25, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call in the funeral home on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am. Gifford's son, Rev. Donald Greene will officiate. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
