Alberta B. (Jarrett) Popke, 97, residing in Sandusky, passed away early Wednesday morning, May 24, 2017 at her home after a lengthy illness.
Alberta was born on November 22, 1919 in Sandusky, OH to the late James and Blanche (Barnes) Jarrett.
Alberta was a member of the Sand Hill United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, making rag rugs, knitting, crocheting and spending time with her family and friends.
Alberta is survived by her daughter, Julie Betschman of Sandusky; son, Robert Popke of Sandusky; six grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sue Popke of Sandusky and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Alberta is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence "Bud" Popke in 2013; son, William A. Popke; grandson, Bryan Popke; great-grandson, Allen Walter; son-in-law, Allen James Walter and sisters, Eva Trinter and Betty Roesch; brothers, Joe, Max, Paul, Henry, William and Jim Jarrett.
Friends may call on Friday, May 26, 2017 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home on May 27, 2017 at 10:00 am. The Rev. Steven W. Trimble of Sandhill Community Church will officiate. Burial will follow in Sand Hill Cemetery, Castalia.
