Donald J. Hush Sr., 79, Sandusky, died Tuesday, August 9, 2011, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born in on June 4, 1932 in Sandusky.
Don was a U.S. Army veteran.
He was employed by Sandusky Baking Co. and Sandusky Dressed Beef, for many years.
He was a member and past commander of the American Legion Post 83, Sandusky, 40& 8, and a member of the honor guard. Don also was a member of the 82nd Airborne Club of Toledo.
He is survived by his children, Joyce (Lynwood) Spencer, Huron, Jill (Allan) McKillips and Donald (Brenda) Hush Jr., both of Sandusky, and Jushua (Tabby Koppus) Hush, Vickery; seventeen grandchildren; thirty two great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Cottey, Florida, Judy George, Marion, OH, Trudy Smith and Rosemary Miller both of Sandusky; brothers, Charlie Hush, Sandusky, Russell Hush, Harry Hush and Bob Hush all of Clyde; several nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Kathryn (Payne) Hush; sister, Elizabeth “Sis” Winters; and a brother, Rick Hush.
Friends may call on Monday, August 15, 2011, from 2-8 P.M. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. Friends may also call on Tuesday from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 11 A.M. in the funeral home. Ernest Bowman, former chaplain of American Legion Post 83 will officiate. Burial will be in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, with the American Legion Post 83 honor guard providing military services.
