Ramona Ortega, 86, returned to her heavenly home on June 4th, 2017. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Ramona was born to the late Juan and Dorotera Ojada, in Juncos, Puerto Rico on September 29, 1930.
She was an active member of Sandusky Church of God and enjoyed sewing quilts for the service members, cooking her native food and had a very playful sense of humor. She worked at Barr Rubber for 22 years. Ramona mentored many foster children throughout the years and her home was always open to family, as well as strangers.
Ramona was blessed with a large and loving family. She married her best friend, Nazario Ortega, on March 16th, 1954 in Immokale, Florida. She raised her five children with patience, discipline and humility. She taught them all the Spanish language and about their cultural beliefs. From the very beginning, she dedicated her children to God and encouraged them to explore the beauty of the word of God.
She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
She is survived by her children, Juan (Debra) of Las Vegas, NV; Oscar of Columbus, OH; Ramona (Sam) of Clyde, OH; and her 7 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ramona is preceded in death by her son, Isaac; daughter, Carmen, and husband Nazario.
Friends may call on Wednesday, June 7, 2017 from 11:00 am until the time of funeral services at 1:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Pastor Samuel Studer will officiate. Ramona will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
The family gratefully declines donations of flowers but contributions may be directed towards the family, c/o Ramona Bryant.
