Augusta Mae (Haase) Biggs, 96, residing in Amherst, passed away Monday, June 5, 2017 at Providence Care Centers.
Augusta was born the oldest of nine children on May 12, 1921 in Tiffin, OH to the late Charles and Mae (Glick) Haase.
Gus, as she was called, was known for her spunky personality and generous heart. She was a member of Henrietta United Methodist Church, where she volunteered to sew children's gowns for hospital missions and help with the famous pumpkin roll fundraiser. Gus loved sewing clothing for her own children, as well at knitting, crocheting and quilting. Throughout her life time, these talents produced many beautiful items for herself and her family. Gus was a past member of the Erie County Senior Center Women's Auxiliary, where she had served as treasurer, secretary and president over the years. She retired from General Motors after 30 years as a production worker and lathe operator in her final years. She will be greatly missed by all those who had the privilege to know and love her.
Gus is survived by her children, Barbara (John) Mccloskey, Sharon Semrau and Steve (Sally) Biggs; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters, Donna Hosman, Emma Wickard and Delores Lewis; brother, Carl (Janet) Haase and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to her parents, Gus is preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Biggs; sisters, Anna Schuman and Helen Reinhart; brothers, Norman and Raymond Haase.
Friends may call on Saturday, June 10, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
