McKinley "Mac" Black Jr., 73, residing in Sandusky, passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at his residence.
Mac was born on August 17, 1943 in Shuqulak, MS to the late McKinley Sr. and Lillie (Anderson) Black.
He graduated from Macon Colored School in 1961. Mac married Lynda (Smith) on August 9, 1969 and lived in the Sandusky area on and off his entire life. He worked for Westchester Glass for many years in Los Angeles, CA and then later went into business for himself. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, working on cars, motorcycles, horses, traveling and spending time with his family and friends.
Mac is survived by his wife, Lynda Black; daughters, Tonya (Quincy Johnson) Black, Suzanne Absher and Amy (Stephen) Palm; sons, James "Jimmy" and Paul Absher; grandchildren, Darnella (Tabarus) Haney, Darlena and Darnell Chisolm, Tamyes Thompson, Dante (Breanna) Black, Marquel Black, Felicia Turner, Summer (Andy) Waugh, Larry and Jonathan George, Adam Ward, Monica, Stephanie and Steven Palm, Felicity, Evan and Janiyah Absher, Paul Jr., Wendy, Wesley and Joshua; 27 great-grandchildren; sisters, Ruth (Richard) Myers of Hattiesburg, MS, Mary (Frank) Hunt of Shuqulak, MS, Pilly (Randy) Vaughn of Chicago, Lois (Orlando) Foust of Starksville, MS Katie Mae Henry of Los Angeles, CA, Jean Cowan of Los Angeles, CA and Carolyn Ash of Daytona Beach, FL; brothers, Charles Jones of Sandusky, Wilbert Black of Shuqulak, MS and Gregory Black of Toledo; special friends, Wayne and Kathy Waston and Willie "Poon" Stockett and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Mac is preceded in death by his son, McKinley "Joey" Black III; sisters, Helen Hubbard and Janice Noah and brothers, Carl "Sonny" Black and Franklin "Baybro" Jones.
He was loved by many. Friends may visit on Friday, June 16, 2017 at 11:00 am until the time of the memorial services at 12:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky.
