Barney W. Jackson Jr., 84, residing in Sandusky, passed away Tuesday morning, June 20, 2017 at Firelands Regional Medical Center after a sudden illness.
Barney was born on October 2, 1932 in Cleveland, OH to the late Warren B. and Helen B. (Munger) Jackson.
Barney was a Veteran of the Army serving during the Korean War. He retired from the Lorain Ford Motor Company in 1990 after 31 years service. Barney was a member of Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene and a past member of the American Legion Post 83. In his spare time, he enjoyed model trains, NASCAR. He also liked watching old war movies, watching football, working in the yard and spending time with his family and friends.
Barney is survived by his wife, Merna Arlene (Nixon) Jackson, whom he married on October 15, 1960. He is also survived by his daughters, Glenna Lee (Robin) Goretzki and Sherylana Kay Hutchins; sons, Lawrence (Stefanie) Jackson and David Alan (Tamara) Jackson; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brother, Art (Pat) Jackson and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
In addition to his parents, Barney is preceded in death by his daughter, Zola Viona Latin; brother, Paul Jackson.
Friends may call on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E Perkins Ave, Sandusky. Friends may also call on Monday, June 26, 2017 at the Sandusky Community Church of the Nazarene, 1617 Milan Rd., Sandusky at 10:00 am until the time of funeral services at 11:00 am. Pastor Bob Morrison will officiate. Entombment will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
