Willie Mae Lanier

The Lord called Willie Mae Lanier, 95, home on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at Stein Hospice Care Center.

Willie Mae was born in Desato, MS to the union of the late Will and Elderberry (Miller) Connor.

With her husband, Ealy Lanier, they moved to Sandusky, OH in 1947 to make a better life for themselves. To this union, three children were born.

She was employed as a domestic worker and she also cleaned offices for various companies, including Cedar Point. Willie Mae was a member of The Assembly of Jesus Christ Church under the pastorage of the late Elder Benjamin Fitzpatrick. She also united with Thomas Temple of Sandusky.

Willie Mae will be dearly missed by her caring and devoted daughter, Earlie (Glenn) Lewis. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Willie Mae is preceded in death by her husband, Ealy Lanier; daughter, Diane Lanier; son, James Lanier, Sr.; sisters, Maude Thompkins and Lee Ethel Bailey and her brother, Jack Blaking.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 12, 2017 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1607 E. Perkins Ave., Sandusky. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11:00 am on Thursday, July 13, 2017. Elder Johnnie Cross of The Assembly of Jesus Christ Church will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky.
