Aznor "Steve" Shaw, 93, Sandusky, went to meet the Lord on Saturday, August 5, 2017, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born on June 18, 1924, in Foust, MS, along with his identical twin, A. Rufus to the late William McKinley and Emma (Fowler) Shaw.
During WWII he joined the Navy and served on the U.S.S. West Virginia and U.S.S. New Jersey. He was not on board the West Virginia when it was sunk at Pearl Harbor. Steve was discharges from the military in 1943.
He married Elizabeth (Outing) Gray in September of 1942 and moved to Ohio.
Aznor became a golden glove boxer, and was employed by Brown Industries, New Departure Hyatt, retiring in 1989. He then worked as a supervisor at McDonald's Car Wash.
He accepted the Lord at an early age and helped to build the Assembly of Jesus Christ Church, Sandusky. Steve loved family gatherings, taking daily walks to the Shell gas station and Dollar General Store on Cleveland Rd. He looked forward to Bike Week and yelling to the bikers to "Rev it up".
He married Annie (Bradley) Shaw in 1974, to whom he was married 43 years; children, Shirley A. Shaw, Dr. Hollis Shaw, Priscilla A. Farris-John, Glenn (Lynda) Shaw, Carrie F. Shaw, Marlene P. Whitfield, Marcella L. Shaw, Betty (Carol) Davis, Willie Clay (Doris) Turner, and Susan Turner; seventeen grandchildren, twenty two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Elizabeth Shaw in 1969; daughter, Betty Sanders; brothers, George, Calvin Frank, Nathaniel, Charles, Malcolm, Samuel, and his twin, A.R.; sisters, Oshia, Mattie Bell, Clarice, Bernice, Alice, Annie Bell, and Sarah; grandson, Daezion Turner; and son-in-law, Robert Sanders.
Friends may call on Saturday, August 12, 2017, from 10 A.M. until time of funeral services at 12 P.M. Noon in Eagles Nest Church, 2126 Pipe St., Sandusky. Elder Johnnie Cross will be the eulogist. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
