Ruth E. DeHenning, 77, of Sandusky, passed away Friday, August 11, 2017 at Admiral's Pointe in Huron.
Ruth was born on November 27, 1939 in Castalia, OH to the late Steve and Gertrude (Dillery) Fortuna.
Ruth graduated from Margaretta High School in 1957 and worked as an Executive Officer at Firelands Board of Realtors. She retired in 2012 after more than 20 years of faithful service. Ruth volunteered often and was involved in many organizations including, Oakland Cemetery Board, Sandusky Exchange Club, Volunteers of America, Sandusky Elks Lodge and other area groups. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking, golfing and spending time on the beach. Her greatest joy was spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by two daughters, Jeanie (Larry) Feagan of Columbia Station, OH and Karen Dennehy of Huron; one son, Steve DeHenning of Holland, OH; 4 grandchildren, Collin, Melissa, Michael and Shelly; 4 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other loving relatives.
In addition to her parents, Ruth is preceded in death by her devoted husband, Harold C. DeHenning; three brothers, Steven, Arden and Edwin and one sister, Dorothy.
Private family services will be held at a later date. Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
